To be me is to be different...

centipedes - loneliness

Subject : To be me is to be different...

Story behind the shot: Black centipedes are very common and I see them in hundreds near my house. This brown one stood different among them and that's when the idea of taking a shot of it struck me. This photo gives me two different yet connected feelings .. " To be me is to be different" and " I am alone " .

What made me capture the image : I switched on the camera to macro mode and focused on the brown centipede so as to throw the other ones out of focus. This implies the subject clearly. Now I think of an undeniable fact  - Being different from others might make us feel lonely. Still , we need to move forward like this brown centipede instead of letting ourselves down.

Have faith in yourself ! Nobody can make you feel inferior without your consent.
Have a happy day :)

Perfectly Imperfect!

Subject : A Beautiful Butterfly with a Broken wing

Story behind the shot : This shot wasn't planned. I had my camera with me and saw this butterfly flying around . It rested for a while on a small plant and without any thought I took a shot of this without any ideas nor any plans of how to frame the subject.

What made me capture the image : Imperfection hasn't made this butterfly stop being a butterfly. I felt that it never minded its imperfection and it went on doing its work .. being a butterfly ..

“We are all wonderful, beautiful wrecks. That's what connects us--that we're all broken, all beautifully imperfect.”

Birds of a feather will flock together

Two birds

“The reason birds can fly and we can't is simply because they have perfect faith, for to have faith is to have wings.”

Oil Lamp

Indian Ornate Oil Lamp
Oil Lamp
Subject: Oil Lamp

Story behind the shot: Lighting up an oil lamp in front of the images of deities is a widely followed practice of Hindus [On a religious context]. It is believed that the darkness of the soul is chased by the light which has been lit up for God. Usually, single wick lamps are lit in houses whereas five wick lamps are lit in temples and special occasions.

What made me capture the image: The divine nature of the subject is the main reason that made me capture this image.
